I’ve been catching up on Star Trek the Ted Nugent Generation. They don’t seem to cover this much in the show, but thinking about a post-money, post competition for basic living needs world it seems to beg for a show that explores life on Earth. Even in a post-money society, you still have to figure out how to allocate resources that can’t be produced by a replicator – like real estate, people’s labor and interstellar transport? Also, how do you deal with non-compliant societies like the Amish? Are there colonies of people who are simply doped out all the time because they don’t have to work? Technologies can change quickly, but human nature not so much. Sounds like a rich vein to mine for story ideas.
