For Stephen Schneider, an attorney and project manager for the
OregonCares.org website
produced on behalf of the the Oregon Senior and Disabled Services Division
the objective was clear: the department wanted to develop a comprehensive
Web site on caregiving for Oregonians. The site needed to serve not only as
a resource but also a database for state officials to obtain information
critical in the policy making process. And they needed it all in four
months.
The Web site would be created in conjunction with the program, "Growing Up
and Growing Old--Caring For Our Parents," airing on Oregon Public
Broadcasting. It would offer additional resources and referral information
but also ask for user response on the types of issues they were struggling
with.
"We needed it to do a lot of things, be accessible and easy to navigate and
be constructed in a way where people could gain information and so could we
through our database Web site," Schneider said.
Amazing took the pressure out of the process. They listened to what
Schneider and others needed the site to do and combined those needs with
technical know-how and creativity to make it happen.
One of the great challenges facing Amazing was how to develop a site that
would be accessible to all people. While it was targeted to the computer
literate Baby Boomer generation, people who are most often caring for
elderly friends and relatives, it had to be designed in a way that even
those people with visual impairments could access the information and
survey. And they succeeded with clean designs.
The State also wanted to set up a search engine that would not only guide
people to pertinent information on that site, but also lead them to
auxiliary information throughout the state database.
"We wanted this site to be the cornerstone of the entire Oregon Caregiving
Resource Center," Schneider said.
Amazing's willingness to listen and then implement the needs into a site
that worked technically and visually was one of the greatest strengths of
working with the firm, Schneider said. The site had a flawless launch not
only meeting the imposed deadline but also user needs. It continues to
operate efficiently.
"Amazing Online Marketing did a first class job. They delivered the
technical portion and the creative and the database part. They were
responsive to our needs and offered ideas and suggestions that helped us
develop a site that would achieve all of our objectives."
