AMAZING MISSIONS -Oregon Department of Human Services - Senior and Disabled Services Division
The Oregon Department of Human Services is the largest department of the Oregon State government. The department supports seniors; at-risk children; people with disabilities; low-income families working toward self sufficiency; people facing alcohol or drug abuse problems, and people with mental illness.
The Senior and Disabled Services Division (SDSD) of the Department partnered with Oregon Public Broadcasting (OPB) to produce a TV broadcast on elder care. As the population of Oregon and the nation ages more and more people have to confront the difficult issues of taking care of their parents or grandparents. Though the TV show contains two hours of case studies and information for caregivers in Oregon a fundamental limitation of TV is it's time-based nature. SDSD knew that over the long run they could help more people if they had a companion Web site for the TV show.
Amazing worked with SDSD to organize the mountain of materials the staff had collected. Then through a series of focus groups we developed a site designed to work for all age groups that could be maintained by the SDSD staff
