Take a close look - this is a circle of mirrored cutouts of people in the lotus position. This would have been fun to find at night, the artist had lit candles in front of the figures, which are nearly invisible against the playa and the sky.
Some jokester built a cubicle on the playa, complete with desk calendar which read "deadlines are closer than they appear". Larger version.

A goddess - the instructions said to write your wish on the spirit paper and paste to the Goddess. Naturally, she burned on the last night.

This is it, that's all that's left of the Man after the big burn.


We used the Meatball Mobile to get around the night of the Burn. Here's a list of the things I found in it the next day:

  • 3 regular waterjugs, 2 crushed water jugs, 1 superfancy insulated jug
  • 1 magic meatball with satin pillow
  • 1 flashlight
  • 1 sleeping bag (owner unknown)
  • 1 blanket
  • 1 flare, burned - taped to a pole
  • 1 flare, unlit - lodged in the driver's seat
  • 1 giant rambo knife
  • 1 pair flip flops
  • 1 wooden shaman token
  • 3 beer cans
  • 1 sarong
  • 1 ginko balboa "think" can
  • 1 camp stool
  • 1 camp chair
  • 1 lightstick
  • 1 alien head cylum lightstick lollipop wand
  • 1 marshmallow on a stick
  • 2 gold chocolate coins stamped with a happy face
  • 1 pair men's button briefs size medium, black
  • misc watermelon rinds (dessicated)
  • misc cigarette butts and bottle caps
